Proverbs 4:7

​There was a man of God with great wisdom and understanding, speaking to a man who did not believe. 

The non-believer said 'keep your fingers crossed, I have something I'm going through."

The Man of God
 responded "I don't believe in crossing my fingers however, I do believe in the cross. 

The non-believer responded "what exactly does that mean? "

The man of God said, "well, try crossing your fingers when you're in a life threatening situation and see if it saves you.

The non-believer responded, so, your telling me if I jump off a bridge and instead of crossing my fingers, I just believe in your God and your God will save me?

No, I'm telling you my God will tell you not to jump off the bridge in the first place,...which of course would be saving you.
